From CHP Santa Cruz:
Work resumed this morning to remove first trees and then dirt from the landslide on Highway 17 north of Sugarloaf Road. Crews deployed a tractor nicknamed the “spider” due to its ability to climb the steep face of the slide. Highway 17 remains open with a traffic deviation in the southbound lanes starting at Vine Hill Road. We have one lane open in each direction. We appreciate your patience as we continue to tackle this problematic slide.
